ADDRESS BY HIS EXCELLENCY DR.K.ROSAIAH, GOVERNOR OF TAMIL NADU AT THE LAUNCH OF MAXIVISION EYE CARE HOSPITAL AND FIRST COMBO LASIK SUITE AT HOTEL PARK SHERATON, CHENNAI ON 21.01.2012 AT 10.30 A.M.
At the outset, I congratulate Maxivision Eye Care Hospital, a Medfort initiative for opening the chain of Maxivision Eye Care Hospitals at Chamiers Road, Anna Nagar and Ashok Nagar in Chennai. My association with Maxivision is not a new one. I knew Maxivision right from its establishment in Andhra Pradesh in 1996.
Health is one of the prime pursuits of man. That too vision is the gift of God. One should give due attention and care to his or her eyes. Statistics reveal that about 2.7 crore people are blind due to various eye disorders in India. Lack of knowledge, lethargic attitude are some of the causes which lead to vision loss. I am told that out of this 40% lose eye sight due to cataract disorders and refractive errors. I am sure that if proper awareness is created among the public especially among the rural people we can certainly reduce vision loss caused by such disorders.
Organising regular Eye camps and cataract screening camps are imperative. The NGOs, Govt. and Ophthalmic Doctors & Eye Hospitals should join together in organizing such camps and in promotion of eye care.
I am glad to learn that Maxivision Eye Care Hospital, India’s one of the top eye centres has treated nearly 2.4 million people and has done about 1.85 lakh eye surgeries. The services rendered by Maxivision Eyecare Hospital in field of Eye care deserve appreciation.
I am happy that the trendsetters of eye care service in India, both charitable and commercial have all started in this very state of Tamil Nadu and I would like to commend all of them. Maxivision Eye Care Hospitals’ achievements like the commencement of lasik centre in 1996 and the pioneering work of the 1st Supracor presbyopic laser treatment are laudable. Maxivision’s research work in the field of eye care deserves appreciation. Maxivision with its largest number of treatments and the pioneering work presented by Dr.Kasu Prasad Reddy all over the world has made India feel proud in the field of Ophthalmic care.
On this occasion, I commend the services rendered by the Ophthalmologists and NGOs for their dedicated service in promotion of eye care. I convey my warm felicitations to Dr.G.S.K.Velu, Chairman, Dr.Kasu Prakash, Co-Chairman and to the Doctors and the staff of Maxivision Eye care Hospital. I wish Maxivision Eye care Hospital all success. My greetings to all of you.
Jai Hind.
