ADDRESS BY HIS EXCELLENCY THIRU SURJIT SINGH BARNALA, GOVERNOR OF TAMIL NADU AT THE INAUGURATION OF “YOUTH TO BUSINESS FORUM 2010” ON ‘SUSTAINNOVATION’ AT HOTEL PARK SHERATON, CHENNAI ON 12.06.2010 AT 7.00 P.M
I feel it a great pleasure to inaugurate “Youth to Business Forum 2010” on ‘Sustainnovation’ organized by AIESEC and address this distinguished gathering here today. Youths are pillars of hope and are the future of a nation. They should be streamlined and tuned in the right direction. The education imparted should suit the changing global trends. Our system of education should sensitize the youth on the realities of the world, instill in them good conduct and spirit of hard work and sincerity. It is imperative to develop the inborn hidden qualities in the youth.
Competence, sincerity, dynamism and character are the prerequisites for a leader. India has the largest number of youth with brain power and manpower. It is necessary to develop leadership qualities in them to make our country a developed nation. I am pleased to learn that AIESEC provides an international platform for the youth to explore and develop their leadership potential.I congratulate the initiatives taken by AIESEC for providing leadership opportunities in the youth through its conferences, International internships and by providing virtual and physical learning networks.
I am pleased to learn that AIESEC engages about 35 thousand youths at a point of time and prepares the students and makes them ready to face the corporate world.
India is and will be strong and prosper as we make it. The universities and educational institutions should take it as their onerous responsibility to develop creativity and dynamism coupled with discipline in the students.
Graham Greene said, “There always comes a moment in time when door opens and lets the future in”.
The initiatives taken by AIESEC to show the youth the door steps of future deserve commendation. I am happy to learn that AIESEC, the global youth organization is established in 107 countries across the world, activating leadership in more than 1700 universities and it is one of the world’s largest youth-run organization. Today, India needs many such non-political and non-profit youth-run independent organizations to bring about a dynamic change in our youth, the citizens of tomorrow.
The efforts taken by AIESEC to develop youth into valuable citizens and to hone their skills deserve appreciation.
I congratulate AIESEC for attracting and developing young people with global mindset and for providing opportunities to our youth to interact and access the youth across the globe.
I am sure that the “Youth to Business Forum 2010” on ‘Sustainnovation’ would prove as a platform to innovate solutions to the problems arising out of ‘Development Activities’. I am sure that the panel discussions would be an eye opener to the global issues and would prepare our youth to face the challenging world.I convey my warm felicitations to the Officials and Members of AIESEC and wish it all success in its contribution to the society.
I conclude with the words, “Success nestles in our creative thoughts and virtuous character”.
My greetings to all of you.
Jai Hind.
