PRESS RELEASE Vice President inaugurated Herbal Garden at Raj Bhavan The Raj Bhavan Chennai is situated in the heart of Chennai city and is spread over more than 150 acres housing variety of trees and plants. It has Nakshatra Garden, Palm Garden, Silver Jubilee Garden and Diamond Jubilee Garden, the Main Lawn, Oval lawn with beautiful fountains, cascades etc in a total area of about two Hectares with flowering foliage, shrubs and trees. Adding to the luster and grandeur of Chennai Raj Bhavan and to lay emphasis on it eco-friendly environment, as in the Rashtrapathi Bhavan, a Herbal Garden has been created in the Raj Bhavan, Chennai under the Roshini Project. The Herbal Garden consisting of 30 different species of native herbs with medicinal properties was inaugurated by His Excellency Shri M.Hamid Ansari, Vice President of India at Raj Bhavan, Chennai, today (31.05.2010).His Excellency the Vice President of India and His Excellency Shri Surjit Singh Barnala, Governor of Tamil Nadu planted herbal plants. Thiru Jasjit Singh Barnala, Governor’s son, Thiru Abhay, Governor’s grandson, Thiru Rameshram Mishra, I.A.S., Principal Secretary to Governor, Thiru K.Vivekanandan, Deputy Secretary to Governor, Thiru A.Jeyapandi, Horticulture Officer and other dignitaries were present.
