PRESS RELEASE Convenors of Gandhi Parikrama for Global Peace Committee call on Governor Late Didi Nirmala Deshpande was a well known Gandhian activist who worked with a mission to promote peace and Gandhian ideals among the people. Coinciding the Birth Anniversary Celebrations of Didi Nirmala Deshpande the Gandhi Parikrama for Global Peace Committee has proposed to organize a rally from Kanyakumari to Kashmir and from Kashmir to Kanyakumari in different routes covering 17 states from 17th October, 2010 for 108 days to propagate peace and promote harmony and Gandhian ideals among the people. The Conveners from Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, New Delhi, Haryana, Jammu & Kashmir, Maharashtra and volunteers from Tamil Nadu Gandhi Parikrama for Global Peace Committee called on His Excellency Thiru Surjit Singh Barnala, Governor of Tamil Nadu at Raj Bhavan, Chennai today (23.07.2010) to explain about their plan of action. The Governor said that the object with which the committee is working is a welcome one and it deserves commendation. Barnala said, ‘Peace is our motive: we should leave no room to those who try to weaken our solidarity’.
