GOVERNOR WRITES TO VICE-CHANCELLORS TO DRAW ACTION PLAN TO CURB THE MENACE OF RAGGING
His Excellency Thiru Surjit Singh Barnala, the Governor of Tamil Nadu and the Chancellor of Universities has written to the Vice-Chancellors of the 22 State Universities to draw action plan to curb the menace of ragging in the educational institutions.
In his letter the Governor has stated that as the new academic calendar is about to commence soon, the time has come to instill strict vigil on the prevention of ragging menace in all the educational institutions under the control of the Vice-Chancellors of the state universities. Shri. Barnala has stated in the letter, that the concept of ragging is inhuman and its aggressiveness has outraged the society at large and has urged that it has to be curbed in all its forms.
Shri Barnala, the Governor & Chancellor of the State Universities has advised all the Vice-Chancellors to draw a Plan of action for the current academic year to mitigate and curb the menace of ragging at the institutions under their control. The Governor has asked the Vice Chancellors to send a report in this regard before 25th of June 2010 so as to take up a review of the issue at the state level.
