GOVERNOR HOSTS DINNER IN HONOUR OF HER EXCELLENCY
DR. MICHELLE BACHELET, PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF CHILE

Her Excellency Dr. Michelle Bachelet, President of the Republic of Chile called on His Excellency Thiru. Surjit Singh Barnala, Governor of Tamil Nadu at Raj Bhavan, Chennai today (19.03.2009). The Governor presented a shawl, a memento and his books ‘The Quest for Freedom-Story of an Escape’ and ‘My Other Two Daughters’ to the President of Chile. 

His Excellency the Governor of Tamil Nadu hosted a dinner in honour of Her Excellency Dr. Michelle Bachelet, President of the Republic of Chile at the Durbar Hall, Raj Bhavan. A Delegation consisting of Mr. Alfonso Silva, Ambassador of Chile to India, Ms. Marigen Hornkohl, Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Jean Jacques Duhart, Vice Minister of Economy, Ambassador Juan Pablo Lira, General Director for Foreign Policy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Fernando Ayala, Chief of Protocol, Ambassador Fernando Schmidt, Director for Asia Pacific, Ms. Maria Angelica Alvarez, Personal Advisor to the President, Ms. Liliana Macchiavello, Vice President of Foreign Investment Committee, Mr. Eduardo Bitran, President of the National Council of Innovation for Competitiveness accompanied the President of Chile.  Mr. Pradeep K. Kumar, Ambassador of India to Chile, Thiru M.R.K. Panneerselvam, Hon’ble Minister for Health, Thiru Parithi Ellamvazhuthi, Hon’ble Minister for Information,  Thiru. Thangam Thenarasu, Hon’ble Minister for School Education, Thiru T.P.M. Mohideen Khan, Hon’ble Minister for Environment, Thiru Vellakoil M.P. Swaminathan, Hon’ble Minister for Highways and Ports, Justice Selvi. M. Fathima Beevi, Former Governor of Tamil Nadu, Thiru M.M. Rajendran, Former Governor of Orissa, Shri. Mohammed Abdul Ali, Prince of Arcot, Dr. M.S.Swaminathan, Dr.Nalli Kuppusami, Shri Ravi Prakash Khemka,   Members of the Diplomatic Core, Defence Officers, Shri K.S. Earlier Her Excellency witnessed the cultural programme organized by the South Zone Cultural Centre.
