BARNALA’S  MESSAGE FOR BAISAKHI FESTIVAL

India’s rich culture and civilization is emulated in its innumerable festivals.  Most of these festivals mark the seasons of agriculture cycle beginning with sowing and culminating with harvesting of the crop.  The Festival of Baisakhi is one of the popular festivals enriching the varied culture of India.  It is an important festival for the Sikhs and is a formal celebration of the Sikh community for the birth of the Khalsa on this day in 1699 AD.

Baisakhi, also called Vaisakhi is celebrated in North India, to mark the arrival of harvesting season.

On this joyous occasion, I extend my warm felicitations and heartiest greetings to the people and the Sikhs in particular living in India and abroad.  May this day of festivity bring more joy and enrich brotherhood.  Let us rededicate ourselves for the upkeep of our patriotism and uphold the dynamism of the Sikh Community.
