30 Jun 2010 Lady Governor Smt. Surjit Kaur Barnala today (30.06.2010) launched the ‘Eco Best Practices Project’ by planting a Bheema Bamboo sapling and inaugurated sustainable vegetable cultivation in Raj Bhavan by planting vegetable seedlings. 29 Apr 2010 Artist Raja Ravi Varma’s 162nd Birth Anniversary Celebrations was held at Raj Bhavan, Chennai today (29.04.2010). His Excellency Thiru Surjit Singh Barnala, Governor of Tamil Nadu unveiled the portrait of Artist Raja Ravi Varma. Earlier in the morning Thiru Barnala painted the ‘master stroke’ for this portrait of Raja Ravi Varma. The portrait was completed by four upcoming artists Ms.Ayesha Sandhu, N.Murugan, K.Ravi and K.Seeralan under the supervision of Dr.Sirpi N.Jayaraman, Principal, Bharathiyar Palkalai Koodam, Puducherry. The Governor distributed shield and prizes to the winners of drawing competitions of Tamil Nadu and Kerala. His Excellency Thiru Surjit Singh Barnala, Governor of Tamil Nadu presented the Rolling Trophy to Madras Central Wilson Ambulance Division for being the Best Ambulance Division in 2008-2009  at the  St. John Ambulance Annual Conference in Chennai today (02.01.2010). Justice Dr. S. Mohan, Former Judge, Supreme Court of India and Shri N. Sugalchand Jain, Vice-Chairman, St. John Ambulance were present.

His Excellency Thiru Surjit Singh Barnala, Governor of Tamil Nadu released the souvenir at the Annual Conference of St. John Ambulance at Chennai today (02.01.2010). The Governor presented Citation to Dr. Malathi Sathiyasekaran, Consultant Pediatric Gastroenterologist, Kanchi Kamakoti Child Trust Hospital for her dedicated service. Justice Dr. S.
